All of Clever Belle's original designs start as an idea. We put a lot of thought and creativity into our artwork. Every piece starts as a sketch and is transferred into digital media where they are finely tuned, sized, and colored in professional software. This technique is labor intensive, but it’s what distinguishes our shirts from others and gives each a unique handmade quality.
At Clever Belle, we believe comfort is important. Some cotton tees can be heavy and scratchy, but not ours. We chose 100% combed and ring-spun shirts, to give it that extra soft feel. Most of our shirts are also made of a combination of cotton and polyester blend to provide more stretch, durability and less shrinkage.
We also chose a fit that doesn’t look bulky. Our shirts are side seamed to fit better and create a tailored structure to fit the body.
Clever Belle partners with a local nonprofit screen-printer. ColorBurst Screen Printing is a socially responsible printer that offers job skills training and employment opportunities for adults with autism and other developmental challenges. ColorBurst is a division of Little Friends, Inc., a nonprofit organization in Naperville that’s dedicated to improving the lives of people with autism and other developmental challenges. All profits generated by ColorBurst help to fund the range of support programs offered by Little Friends, Inc.
Most of our shirts are hand pressed to give them a unique handmade quality. The ink is custom mixed and each shirt is created with a process to ensure a vintage look and feel.
When you purchase a shirt from Clever Belle you should feel good, because social responsibility is important to us. As part of our Kickstarter program we donated shirts to Urban Initiatives in Chicago, IL whose mission is to empower underserved children to adopt healthy lifestyles, improve their academic performance, and build strong character through sports-based youth development programs. As we grow, we plan to continue to give back to our local community.
